Prospect Riding Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization on 10 beautiful acres of ranch land in Myakka City, Florida. We offer both therapeutic and recreational horseback riding and activities. All of the proceeds from our recreational riding go to support our therapy riding program.
Our mission is to help individuals with special needs overcome physical, developmental, and psychological challenges through equine-assisted therapy. Our highly trained instructors provide a nurturing and safe environment for our clients to advance their physical, emotional, and social growth.
Learning to care for the horses is a big part of the therapy. All ten of therapy animals in our herd are retired and gentle. We strive to improve their quality of life as they age by ensuring they get as much from our programs as our riders. The relationship between horse and rider is a major focus of all our programs.

Prospect Riding Center helps individuals with special needs overcome physical, developmental, and psychological challenges in their lives by providing therapeutic horseback riding. We build trust with our riders and their families and help them to grow physically, emotionally, and socially.
Our therapy program takes a holistic approach by encouraging the participation of families and caregivers in the therapy. This method helps to ensure that techniques learned during therapy can be replicated in the home environment. Physical skills like balance, core strength, and coordination help our riders in their everyday lives.
We offer both therapeutic and recreational horseback riding activities for the entire family.
Our Girl Scout Troop came out this past weekend and had an amazing time! Ms. Susan, the staff and volunteers were all so patient and kind with our girls. While there, the girls learned how to stay safe around the horses, how to properly ride, steer and command the horses, went on a 30 minute trail ride and were even able to help groom and feed the biggest of the big to the smallest of the small.
