Over the past several decades, therapeutic riding has evolved both nationally and internationally. National standards and practices have evolved and been shared through PATH, our national association. Therapeutic riding has been shown to work both anecdotally and experimentally. Prospect Riding Center is a member of PATH International, which is the governing body for therapeutic riding programs. PATH is the acronym for the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International, founded in 1969 to promote Riding Therapy throughout the United States.

Prospect Riding Center is applying received wisdom of not only that organization but of its principal’s own work in the arena over several years. Prospect Riding Center is one of 850 facilities certified by PATH International, The Professional Association of Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship. PATH International provides Equine Assisted Activity and Therapy programs throughout the world through its network of more than 800 member centers. PATH International fosters safe, professional, ethical and Therapeutic Equine Activities through education, communication, research and standards.

Although there are agencies and organizations that exist to help these individuals, Prospect Riding Center is unique in that it offers an interaction that other agencies and organizations not only don’t do but can’t do. We invite the parent, caregiver, or service provider to participate and enhance not only the independence in the life of the participant but extend to those they are attached to, creating memories that continue to nurture beyond the lesson time, an interaction that makes a real and positive impact on the client’s life.
